Reading Notes: The Broken Pot, Extra Credit
Bibliography: The Broken Pot
This story is about a Brahman who collected rice by begging. He at some of it and put the rest in a pot that he hung on the wall. He states that if there is a famine, he can sell the rice. With his profit, he can buy goats that will reproduce. With the babies, he can buy claves, With the calves, he can buy buffaloes. With the buffaloes, he can buy horses. With the horse, he can sell them for gold. When he is rich, he can buy a large house. He will then get a beautiful wife and have a child. He daydreams about the child and kicks his foot. When the foot hits the ground, the pot with the rice falls and breaks. This is an interesting read. There could be some storytelling about daydreaming and the harsh reality that has to be accepted when the daydream is over.
