Storybook Favorites
I read through some fo the storybooks from last semester's mythology and folklore class. While there were several that caught my attention, these three are the ones that stood out the most to me.
1) Retirement Home for the Gods: This project stood out to me because it is a very clever idea. Many of the gods are familiar to me from previous studies, but I do not know very much about them. The idea to tell stories from the perspectives of the gods is very unique and clever. I also love that the project is formatted as if it were a retirement home and they were playing a classic table game. This is a greta way to provide a fresh perspective on the material. The title and introduction do a great job of grabbing the reader's attention and getting them interested in the project. The design images and navigation are also appealing and easy to use. This is a very wonderful idea.
2) Witches of Oz: This project also stood out from the crowd. I absolutely love how this project plays with the Wizards of Oz theme to discuss the witches. I loved this story and movie when I was a kid, so the material itself was a big draw for me. The images used throughout the project are also great for grabbing and maintaining attention. I love the layout and design of the project website. The introduction does a great job of explaining the project to outsiders. The stories also offer up unique perspectives to really understand the characters. Overall, this site was very creative and a great idea.
3) Ghost Stories of OU: This project was a wonderful idea as well. It is unique to relate stories back to our university. This allows the reader to learn about the legends and history of OU, which is very engaging as a topic. The images used were wonderful and the site was easy to navigate. I would think a project like this would be as fun to create as it was to read through.

I am so glad you looked at that OU ghost project: as you can guess with the Myth-Folklore class, there are so many ways that you can do projects "closer to home" as it were, while the India class is always starting with stories that come from far away. And there is a Twine story in that project; did you notice that one? A choose-your-own-adventure thing, very cool: Tragedy in Cate Center -- if you want to learn about Twine, there are Tech Tips for that... it's surprisingly easy and totally fun! :-)
