Reading Notes: The Liver Turkish Extra Credit

Bibliography: The Liver

This story begins with an old woman who wanted some liver and sent her daughter to get some. The daughter washed it in the pond, but a stork swooped down and took the liver. The girl explained that her mother will be furious if she does not return with liver. The stork demands barley for the liver. The girl went to a farmer and asked for barley, but he demanded she pray for rain. This chain of requests continued on and on. Eventually she had to kiss a peasant in order to receive the gifts and return the liver to her mother. This would be a great story to fit my OU theme. I could have a student struggling in a class that went to see her professor and ask for help. In order the get help, the professor demanded some small gift. This turns into a wild goose chase, and the girl eventually has to complete a task to see the chain of requests come full circle and get help on her exam.
