Reading Notes: Why the Bat Flies By Night Part A

Bibliography: Why the bat flies by night

This story discusses the tale of a bat and a rat who are friends. However, the bat was jealous of the rat. The bat made a delicious soup, so the rat asked how it was made. The bat convinced the rat that he boils himself in the water to give it a better taste. He demonstrated by jumping in warm water. The rat when home to try this. He had a pot of boiling water made and jumped in only to burn to death. His wife found him dead and was irate. The king ordered the bat to become a prisoner. People tried to catch him all day, so that is why the bat only came out at night. This would be a fun story to retell. I would like to tell a story of two men who are friends but one is secretly jealous. He convinces his friend that, for his burger recipe, he pours some gasoline on the grill to get it to flame up and leave a charred crust on the burgers. The man returns home to do this, but catches himself on fire and dies. The wife finds him dead and tells the police. A search ensues for the man who tricked him. This would be a similar plot that is more modern.
