Reading Notes: Coyote and Snake Part B

Bibliography: Coyote and Snake by Katharine Berry Judson

For Part B of the Great Plains reading, the story that stuck out the most was the Coyote and Snake story. In this story, coyote was walking in a straight line through the prairie. He encountered a snake. The snake asked him to go around. The coyote said he does not go around and he wants to continue in the straight line. The snake said he is not giving ground to anyone. Coyote said he will run over the snake. The snake said he would die if he did. The snake bit the coyote. The coyote asked if he received his deathblow because he did not feel anything. The snake made no comment. The coyote ran further and saw himself in a pond. He looked fat. Then the coyote fainted and did not wake up. The snake kept his promise.

I could make this an OU story. Perhaps a student ignores a professor's warning that this certain class will be crucial for their future. The student does okay but does not work hard to retain the info for the future. Later in graduate school, the class comes back to haunt the student. The professor had told the truth.
