Reading Notes: Persian Tales Wolf and Goat Part A
Bibliography: The Wolf and the Goat
This story starts by talking about how there were no people but a god. In this story, there was a mother goat with four children. The mother goat left to gather food for them and told them not to open the door for the wolf with the black hoof. Hers is red so that is how they will know it was her hoof. The wolf overheard this and painted his hoof red. The baby goats let him in. He gathered three of the goats, but one escaped and hid. This baby goat told the mother and she went and found the wolf. She told him to be ready for a fight. The goat gathered a gift and went and got her horns sharpened with the gift. The wolf went to a dentist to have his teeth sharpened, but the dentist noticed that the gift was fake and pulled the teeth out instead. The goat then easily won the fight and the wolf was killed. There seems to be a simple good vs. evil moral in this story that would be fun to use. I would like to write a story, perhaps about two athletes set to square off. One is honest and works hard to prepare. The other uses deceit and it ends up costing him in the end as the honest athlete wins. It could be similar ideas but with a different set of characters.
