Reading Notes: Why Dead People are Buried Part B
Bibliography: Why Dead People are Buried
In this story, the creator loved all animals and people and was sad when anyone died. He sent a dog as a messenger to tell the people to place ashes on a body and in twenty four hours they would be alive again. The dog got distracted by a bone and forgot the message. The creator then sent a sheep, but the sheep forgot the details of the message. He told the people that bodies should be buried in the ground. The dog then remembered his message, but people did not believe him as they already received word from the sheep. This is why bodies are buried. The dog is disliked because people could still be alive if he had not been distracted. I could change this story and create one in which a messenger with a very important message becomes distracted and a bad result ensues. It could be loosely based on this story, but the overall tale would be quite different. I cannot think of how to tie in an OU theme, but it is possible that I could frame the plot around a college student.
